2006 ITF Women's Circuit
Before reaching the elusive status of calling themselves a star on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, many players get their start on the ITF Women's Circuit. The ITF Women’s Circuit provides entry level tournaments enabling players to work their way up the ladder to Sony Ericsson WTA Tour events. With over 300 tournaments spanning more than 60 countries, the ITF Women' Circuit provides worldwide opportunities for players to work their way to the next level and offers more than $6 million in prize money each year.

Every player in the ITF's database, including all those who play in ITF Pro Circuit events, has an IPIN (International Player Identification Number) assigned to them which allows them to be uniquely identified. The IPIN is created when a player's details are first entered into the ITF database and will remain with that player throughout their career as they progress from the ITF Juniors Circuit to the ITF Pro Circuit, and hopefully then on to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
From January 1, 2005 ALL players who compete in ITF Pro Circuit tournaments must obtain an IPIN prior to competing in their first tournament.
