US Open (as qualifier, d. No.25 seed Sánchez-Vicario en route; l. to No.4 seed Davenport); fell in Tour qualifying three times; won two singles titles and one doubles title on ITF Circuit.
2003 - Near-Top 50 finish in first full season on Tour; SF at Canberra (l. to Schiavone); QF three times, at Miami, Strasbourg and Québec City; played all four Grand Slams in a year for first time, best result being 2r at
Roland Garros; made Top 100 debut on January 13 (after Canberra; rose from No.105 to No.92) and Top 50 debut on July 28 (after Stanford; rose from No.56 to No.50).
2004 - First Top 50 season; SF three times, at Auckland (l. to Harkleroad), Hyderabad (l. to Pratt) and Cincinnati (withdrew vs. Davenport w/hand blister); QF at Forest Hills; best Grand Slam was 3r at
Wimbledon (l. to Sugiyama); won one Tour doubles title; member of French Fed Cup team that beat Spain 5-0 in World Group SF (went 1-0) but l. to Russia 3-2 in final (went 0-1).

Nakamura in first final between players who hit w/two hands both sides) and Québec City (d. Poutchkova; first 60 60 Tour singles final in 13 years); runner-up at Bali (l. to Kuznetsova in final); SF at Seoul (l. to Daniilidou); QF three times, at Birmingham, Cincinnati and New Haven; made Top 20 debut on October 9 (after Tokyo [Japan Open]; rose from No.22 to No.19); won one Tour doubles title.
2007 - Breakthrough season culminating in first Top 10 finish (at No.10); reached first Grand Slam final at
