The Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions is set to debut at the Bali International Convention Centre (adjoining the Westin Resort) from November 4-8 in 2009. Featuring top Sony Ericsson WTA Tour players and next generation champions competing in an innovative, 12-woman round robin singles format (four groups of three players, then single-elimination semifinals and final), it will offer both $600,000 in prize money and a chance to earn a $1-million bonus.
The 10 highest-ranked players who have captured at least one International tournament during the year and who are not participating in singles at the year-end Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2009 will qualify for the event, along with two wildcards. A player who wins three International tournaments and the season-ending Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions will take home the additional $1-million bonus on top of her regular prize money.
The Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions is set to take place in Bali for an initial period of 2009-2011.
Below is a look at the Road to Bali - the 30 International tournaments (each offering $220,000 prize money) leading up to the season-ending finale.
