LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg - With Caroline Wozniacki being sent home on Tuesday, Anabel Medina Garrigues became the latest seeded casualty at the BGL Luxembourg Open on Wednesday, falling to one of her nemeses.

Medina Garrigues, the No.3 seed at the International-level tournament, was ousted by qualifier Kirsten Flipkens in the second round, 75 63. Medina Garrigues was up a break in both sets - she had a 4-2 lead in the first set and a 2-0 lead in the second set - but Flipkens came back each time.

Flipkens has now won all three career meetings with Medina Garrigues, their first coming five years ago in Fed Cup play and their second at the US Open this summer, where the Belgian routed the Spaniard, 61 63.

Winners in other second round matches were No.6 seed Sabine Lisicki, who edged wildcard Polona Hercog, 76(1) 64, and Timea Bacsinszky, who breezed past Roberta Vinci earlier on in the day, 62 62.

The last batch of first round matches also took the court, with No.4 seed Daniela Hantuchova, No.5 seed Yanina Wickmayer and Lucie Hradecka winning through. Wickmayer had the toughest match of the bunch against a player who pushed her to three sets during her title run at the Generali Ladies Linz last week; the Belgian rallied from 2-5 in the second set to beat Romania's Alexandra Dulgheru, who won the Premier title in Warsaw this year, 63 76(4).
