LONDON, UK - It was a dramatic day of tennis Thursday, and after all was said and done on Centre Court, there was a lot more to be said in the press room. Here are just a few things the world's Top 4 said after the semifinals.

"It was a very close match, and I think we were both playing very well today. I feel very satisfied the way I was playing today. The only regret I have is maybe I should have taken a little bit more of a risk on match point, maybe I should have gone down the line. The passing shot is my favorite shot to make. Maybe everything was too quick, so I didn't see she was moving crosscourt."

"My forehand didn't show up today. I think he went to Hawaii. But I've called him and asked... her, I should say, to come back for the final. Hopefully she'll be back. She turned her cell phone off. She won't answer me. I might have to go there. Whatever it takes, I need her back. But it's always good to win when one of your strokes is on vacation."
Serena Williams on her forehand, which let her down at times but didn't prevent her from winning a thrilling semifinal against Elena Dementieva, 67(4) 75 86.

"She's just too good on grass. It's not my favorite surface and it's her favorite surface. I think she gave me a pretty good lesson today. It's disappointing finishing the match in less than an hour and winning only one game, but I have to accept it. Reaching the semifinal will hopefully help me change my mentality on grass for next year, and I'll come in with different expectations."
Dinara Safina after falling to Venus Williams in the semifinals, 61 60.

"I remember a long time ago, maybe 1998, we were playing in Sydney. It was still at White City. She was playing Davenport, who at the time was at least in the Top 5, maybe higher. We were just coming on the Tour. She was down 61 52. I was playing after, yet again. I'll never forget. She came back and won that match. It was so intense. I learned so much from that, her fight. That actually had a huge impression on my career, that one incident. We saved the article. It was called 'White City's Great Escape'. Afterwards I'd read it with an Australian accent. We'd read it over and over again, about how she overcame all the odds and won that match. I mean, that's classic Serena Williams, so... It was a huge lesson for both of us."
