LONDON, UK - Below is a collection of some of the best quotes from Day 8 of The Championships, straight from the eight singles quarterfinalists.
"It's very hard to do anything if Venus is having a good day. I was trying, but she was too tough on the grass. If she keeps playing like this, I think she will make it one more time at this tournament."
Agnieszka Radwanska after falling to Venus Williams in the quarterfinals.
"You have to find a happy medium of being part of a business plan that works, and doing what's best for you. Historically, I think most players like to play a little more than I do. But I'd like to hang around in my career a little longer, too. I really try to make my commitments, but I also try to do what's best for me."
Venus Williams on her playing schedule and what she has learned from playing the number of tournaments she has over her many, many years at the top.
"Today I didn't play my best, but I can't say it wasn't a good tournament. I want to take experience from this and use it for the next one."
Francesca Schiavone on reaching her third career Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon, having been that far at the 2001 French Open and the 2003 US Open. She lost to Elena Dementieva in straight sets on Tuesday.
"It's really hard for me to stay away from tennis. Even when you're concentrating on your own match, you're still wondering what the score is on this court and that court and you're trying to check on all the other players. When I have a day off, I always watch it on TV or I stay here on site. Because this is a Grand Slam, I feel very excited not just as a player, but also as a spectator."
Elena Dementieva on whether she is the type that soaks up everything around her or that does her job and goes home.
"I think I learned how to play on grass. Now I know I can play on grass and I don't have to be afraid to come back next year and play all the grass court tournaments. I'm actually really looking forward to it now, because I really enjoyed my time here. I think it will be a good year next year, as well."
Sabine Lisicki on what she learnt about herself during the Wimbledon fortnight. Before this tournament, she had never won a match on grass.
"Sometimes even I don't know what I'm doing with my serve. In the fourth round I served very well, then today I warm up well, but suddenly in the match, I toss the ball and I'm running to the fence. I'm just escaping the serve."
Dinara Safina on her serve, after hitting 15 double faults during her three set win over Sabine Lisicki in the quarterfinals.
"Serena's a complete player, I would say. She has every shot. She's very strong mentally. She fights until the last moment. I think she just has the whole package, and that's what makes her a great champion. And she really showed the unbeatable Serena today."
Victoria Azarenka on Serena Williams, after losing to the American handily in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
"I put most of my success to hard work and good training. I feel like I have talent and I've been blessed to have it, but I don't just sit down on my couch and never train. I work hard at what I do to turn that talent into more talent."
Serena Williams on whether she puts most of her success down to talent or hard work.
