They don't play doubles very often, but when they do, Serena Williams and Venus Williams are almost unbeatable. And when they play, it's almost always with lots at stake, as 13 of their 17 titles are Grand Slams or Olympics. Another incredible accomplishment is they've never lost a Grand Slam final and only once in any tournament final.
The sisters, along with Lisa Raymond, are the only active players to have completed the career doubles Grand Slam. Their Grand Slam haul consists of four Australian Opens, one French Open, four Wimbledons and two US Opens. They are an incredible 33-3 at the Australian Open, 8-1 at Roland Garros, 29-1 at Wimbledon and 18-2 at the US Open. That's in addition to two Olympic gold medals in doubles.
Serena and Venus started playing together in 1997 and won their first title at Oklahoma City in 1998 and their first Grand Slam at Roland Garros in 1999. That same year they both achieved their career-high of No.5 in the doubles rankings, a number which would certainly be higher if they played more often. From 1999 through 2003, they won at least one Grand Slam every year. They didn't play in any majors in 2004, 2005 and 2006, finally getting back in the winner's circle at Wimbledon in 2008. Most recently, they captured the 2009 Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open and 2010 Australian Open. Venus has only played four tournaments in her career with anyone besides Serena; Serena has only played twice without Venus.
