Larry Scott - Chairman & CEO

Since joining the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour as Chairman and CEO on April 16, 2003, Larry Scott has engineered an exciting turnaround for women's professional tennis, with the Tour now enjoying unprecedented growth and popularity on a global scale.

Credited most notably as the architect of the largest-ever sponsorship in both women's sports and professional tennis, a six-year, $88-million landmark title sponsorship agreement with Sony Ericsson, Scott also has attracted new major regional sponsors during his tenure. Still other achievements under his leadership include: the launch of key brand initiatives and marketing promotions; a streamlined Tour governance structure to increase Board effectiveness; the spearheading of collaborative efforts with other tennis governing bodies to grow the sport; and strengthened relationships with the Tour's Player and Tournament members.

In conjunction with its regional sponsorship strategy, the Tour has formed commercial partnerships with leading global brands, including Whirlpool as premier sponsor in Europe, Dubai Duty Free as premier sponsor in the Asia-Pacific/Middle East region and TOM Group in the Asia-Pacific/Middle East region, all of whom were joined in 2005 by Gatorade and Bed Bath & Beyond. Under Scott, the Tour also renewed its international television partnership with Eurosport, which broadcasts women's tennis to 54 countries and more than 104 million homes across its pan-European platform.

Scott also has overseen the launch of the Tour's successful "Get in Touch with Your Feminine Side" global brand marketing campaign; formed a Global Advisory Council comprised of leading international CEOs and business leaders; partnered and led initiatives with the USTA in the successful "US Open Series" and the ATP in a "One Game" program designed to enhance operational and promotional synergies; conducted a ground-breaking 10-year review of the Tour's Age Eligibility Rule; and introduced a number of initiatives, including the media "All-Access Hour," increasing the accessibility and promotion of the Tour's star players and the sport.

Scott's career in tennis began as a professional tennis player on the ATP circuit, where he played for three years and won one title. Prior to joining the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, Scott spent more than a decade in leadership and senior management positions at the ATP, serving in the posts of Chief Operating Officer, President of ATP Properties and Executive Vice President of the International Group. In these roles, which included postings in Sydney, Monte Carlo and London, he was credited with significantly growing the popularity of men's tennis globally, establishing the Tennis Masters Cup as one of the most successful events in the sport, negotiating the renewal of the ATP's celebrated 13-year sponsorship partnership with Mercedes-Benz, which remains one of the preeminent sponsorship agreements in tennis history, and launching the first tournaments in several developing locales such as China and the Persian Gulf. Scott also served as Vice President of the ATP Player Council when he played on the ATP circuit, and was a founding member of the ATP Board of Directors.

Scott is a 1986 honors graduate of Harvard University, where he excelled as a student and as an athlete, garnering All-America honors in addition to serving as captain of the tennis team. Having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in European History, Scott speaks fluent French. He resides in St. Petersburg, Florida with his wife, Cybille, and their three children, Alexander, Sebastien and Alannah.
