Rankings Race to the Sony Ericsson Championships How It Works The purpose of the Race to the Sony Ericsson Championships is to determine the eight singles players and four doubles teams that will contest the Tour's season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2008. The Tournament is an eight-player round robin singles tournament and four-team single elimination doubles tournament scheduled for November 4-9, 2008 in Doha, Qatar. Unlike the Tour Rankings, which are based on a rolling, 52-week system - using a player's best 17 results for singles and 11 for doubles over the past 12 months - the Race to the Sony Ericsson Championships starts at the beginning of the season, with all players at zero points. Round points earned from all Tour events played are added to produce the separate weekly Singles and Doubles Team standings.
